Reserve a Room
For the convenience of students, faculty, and staff you can reserve or “book” one of three small group study rooms, the conference room, or the lower-level classroom (Lab A&B) in the MSU-Northern Vande Bogart Library using our online reservation system, LibCal, or by connecting with Library staff.
Do I Need a Reservation?
When not reserved, all rooms are open on a first come first served basis; however, you must vacate when requested by an individual with a valid reservation.
How to Reserve a Room in the Library with LibCal:
Step 1. Select the room type you want to reserve or select “All Categories” to see all reservable spaces
Step 2. This will bring you to today’s room availability. You can then select the “Go To Date” box to change the date to the day you wish to check availability or reserve a room
Step 3. Selecting a date will bring up the availability for the day you want (Green=Available, Yellow=your booking, Red=already booked/unavailable). You can now click on the hour you wish to start your booking, which will turn each green square yellow
Step 4. Click the “Submit Times” button at the bottom of the page
Step 5. Fill in the required information and click the “Submit my Booking” button
Success! The “Booking Confirmed” page should come up, and you will see a button at the bottom left-hand corner that will allow you to make another booking. You will also receive a confirmation email from LibCal with a link to cancel your booking.
A few considerations to note when using LibCal:
- Room reservation times start every 30 minutes, with a maximum of 3 hours per reservation. You can reserve the room for longer but it will require submitting separate reservation requests.
- The minimum duration for a reservation is 30 minutes with a default duration of one hour.
- Study rooms may be reserved up to 90 days in advance while the conference room and lower-level classroom may be reserved up to 180 days in advance.
- If you need or want to reserve a room on a recurring basis for the semester you must book each date separately. Alternatively, you can email Library staff to make a recurring booking for you.
Room Use Guidelines:
- Instructional use is given priority when reserving the lower-level classroom.
- Administrative and staff use is given priority when reserving the conference room.
- Individuals or groups may not reserve rooms continuously so that it takes away availability for others' use of these spaces. The Library reserves the right to cancel reservations and/or block individuals from making reservations if we determine misuse of the space that denies access for others.
- When not reserved or in use, anyone may use a room.
- Conversation must be held to a reasonable level.
- Rooms must be left in a clean and orderly condition.
- The Library is not responsible for personal property left in rooms; items found will be placed in the Library's lost and found.
- Report any damage or equipment failures immediately to the Circulation & Information Desk. If damage is discovered after your use, you may be held responsible.
